The school is located in the historic center of the city, between Piazza Duomo and Piazza Santa Croce squares. Within a few minutes walk you are at the famous Sant'Ambrogio market and at the flea market. The neighborhood where the school is located is full of cozy cafes and restaurants and around the corner is the University of Florence which makes you are always surrounded by (fellow) students while studying at this school. The focus during the lessons is mainly on speaking and listening, followed by writing and grammar. Many lessons deal substantively with Italian society and culture, so you won’t only learn the language but also a lot about the country and the Italian way of life. Outside the lessons, additional activities are regularly organized, such as a guided tour through the historic center of the city, day excursions, cooking classes and wine and cheese tastings. Koiné has several schools throughout Italy, making an exchange between different cities easy. The quality of the education is good, all classes are accredited.

I spent 5 weeks at The Koinè Center a few years back and it continues to be one of the best experience of my life. The staff at the school were always warm and welcoming and they made language learning enjoyable and fun. I went on many of the outings that the school organized as well. From the walks and talks around the town to an afternoon of wine tasting in Chianti, everything was lovely and I felt well taken care of. The location of Koinè Center is absolutely everything you could ask for too!
Had a two week intensive language course in November 2019. This was truly great experience. School has amazing location (2 min from Piazza Santa Croce) and the group was quite small (low season) so everyone had enough attention during the lessons. Our teacher Marco was the best! Such a knowledgable and patient person who truly loves his job. Cultural activities after school will allow you to discover Florence places not visible on the standard touristic routs.
The teaching methodology aims at developing your speaking skills so in few days you won't even notice how you start speaking! Definitely coming back here.
I had two weeks at the school and very much enjoyed the experience. The school is very well run and the teachers (Francesca in particular) were excellent. I learned so much in a very short time. The school is in a beautiful part of Florence and everybody at the school was really welcoming and friendly. It was an amazing two weeks. I wish I had been able to stay longer.
I loved my experience at Koinè! I came in with little knowledge of Italian and was able to make a lot of progress in 3 short weeks. The teachers are all fantastic and wonderful. They make the learning interesting and are sincerely interested in you learning while you're there. I can't recommend them enough!
This school is excellent in every respect. I have been attending classes here for several years and the teaching methods and the instructors are incredibly effective. Many times now I have seen beginners arrive here for a three-or-more month stay, who have no prior experience in Italian, and within 6 weeks they are chatting easily with students and instructors. The school is located in an area filled with good restaurants, bars, museums, and close to the great cathedral and piazza of Santa Croce.
In addition the school offers cultural tours twice a week in which you visit places of interest and can further exercise your Italian language skills.
I highly recommend Koine for students at every ability level.

I stayed with Koinè for four months and it was a wonderful experience all day every day. All the teachers and secretary are there for you, and will help you in no matter your question/problem. You will feel like part of a beautiful family.
The courses are superb, and before you know it, you speak Italian. True story! The classes are complex and divers, which ensures you will never get bored. And the teachers are just too charming. And not to forget, you will make so many new friends from all over the world, at all ages.
Koinè also offers two cultural events every week, so not only will you learn the language, you will also become one of the greatest guides Firenze has to offer.
As fast as my savings allows it, you will find me on the first flight back!
